Learning and Development
Our commitment to quality management and employee development truly defines the McCormick and Schmick’s culture. To that end, we provide formal training programs designed to help you succeed in your current role and to help you reach your professional goals.
Hospitality and Culinary Management
As a chef-in-training or manager-in-training, our training program will provide you with all of the necessary tools for success. This training period exposes you to all staff positions within the restaurant so that you can guide your team effectively. Workbooks and training systems permit self-paced learning in a supportive, practical environment. Schedules include five ten-hour shifts weekly, designed to expose you to different restaurant operation scenarios. As training modules are completed, you will develop expertise in the kitchen, bar and dining room operations, as well as skills in purchasing, accounting, employee relations, training and computer systems.
We are confident that our program will provide you with the knowledge and resources necessary to help you and your fellow team members build and sustain a successful restaurant.
As an hourly new hire, you will be given comprehensive training for your position. The length of your training will vary by position. However, if at any time you decide that you’re interested in moving into a different role within the company and show the merit and dedication necessary to succeed in it, McCormick and Schmick’s will provide the training to help get you there. It’s simply up to you.
